on the following days: 

Tuesday, October 9, 2018

Thursday, October 11

Tuesday, October 16 

Attendance on all 3 days required for certification

Some on-line reading required before start date

·        Must be 19 or older

·        Must love to read

·        Have a desire to help and a belief in the importance of literacy

·        Commit to 6 months

Who do we help?

·        Our tutors are matched one-to-one with a variety of adult learners.  Some of our learners include:

o   Adult non-readers

o   ELL learners (English Language Learners)

o   People with learning disabilities or developmental delays

o   People recovering from strokes or brain injuries

o   GED (high school equivalency certification)pre-college students

(General Education Diploma)

 

For mature students, aged 19+, who want to earn a high school equivalency certificate. The GED is recognized as an equivalent of grade 12 by many employers and colleges. You can prepare for and write an assessment to demonstrate your knowledge in the five subject areas; science, social studies, math, reading, and writing. The ALC is offering FREE, one-to-one instruction for learners who want to upgrade math and essay writing skills in preparation for the GED test.

Bingo Volunteers Wanted!

 As a bingo volunteer, you will be helping the organization raise funds to support our cause

Responsibilities 

  • Greet patron upon entering the bingo hall
  • Help patrons log in machine if necessary
  • Answer any questions about The ALC if asked
  • When patrons leave, push their chair in and log off machine if they haven’t done so
  • Tidy up the tables when needed

 

Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Cheerful and possess clear communication skills
  • Reliable & dependable
  • Dress Code: White collared shirt or polo, black pants & comfortable shoes
  • Two hours a month – usually Tuesdays, however, there may be other days available
  • Must complete mandatory training first
  • Must be 18 years of age & older
